Tommee Tippee Essentials Set Review
The Tommee Tippee Essentials Set comes with 4 Tommee Tippee bottles, the teats on these brand of bottles are supposedly the closest you can get to the feel of mum’s breast. This actually helps you bottle and breast feed instead of doing one or the other exclusively by avoiding “nipple confusion”.
I combi fed my current youngest and these were the first bottles we had success with. There’s a lot of fuss about nipple confusion when you start switching baby between bottle and breast. So much so, that I almost didn’t try her on the bottle. I can honestly say though, we never encountered this problem. Whether it was because we tried Tommee Tippee bottles while she was young or I just had an easy feeder, I don’t know. But she never had a problem being breast and bottle fed.
The one thing the Tommee Tippee Essentials set doesn’t include is a breast pump. This is a shame as you’d obviously need one if you want to breast and bottle feed, but still exclusively feed breast milk. As it comes with milk powder dispensers, I feel it should come with a breast pump too, as some mothers don’t combi feed with breast and formula, just breast and and expressed milk.
I also don’t like the style of bottle brush that comes with the Tommee Tippee Essentials set. I found it a bit fiddly and the teat brush is just a textured rubber prong or something, I prefer the bottle brushes with a full brush and a teat brush on the opposite end.
Asides from the 2 niggles I have, I think this is a great starter set for newborns. It offers good value for money and you won’t have to buy anything extra for a good while. Unless, like me, you don’t like the bottle brush!
